OCTOBER 2018

President's Message

Hi everyone,  Big news!  Thanks to the dynamic duo of Alyssa Trosclair, Director of Communications and Marketing, and Jane Cole, Director of Membership, you can now get CEU credits with the certificate for the past 12 months of Virtual Chapter meetings.

You could always listen to the recordings but you could only get the certificate within the month immediatly following a meeting. Now you have access to 12 months of meetings and the certificates too!  No additional cost to you, this is part of your membership.

My family was on vaction in July and I missed the wonderful presentation by Audry Billet on End of Life Organizing.  Then I was too busy when I got back to get it done within the month.  So today I listened to the recording, filled out the survey with the code words and now I will get my certifcate soon.

Please welcome our newest board members, Nancy Rivera is our new Director at Large and Chalee Domingos is our new Director of Marketing.   Look for more announcements involving Nancy and Chalee, membership drive, marketing campaign and contests for you to participate in!

NAPO Virtual Chapter social media will be picking up.  Chalee will be working behind the scenes on that and we are looking forward to more interaction between all of us on Facebook, Linkedin and other social media sites.

In the meantime please be sure and visit our private Facebook page NAPO VC member's only Facebook page.  Its your page so please join and post.

The VC public Facebook page is NAPO VC Facebook public page.  Please join and post here. It is a great tool to attract new members and potential new organizers. Look for more info on recruiting new members soon.

Looking forward to "seeing" you at the next meeting.

Tech Talk

Amid the latest unconfirmed rumors of Evernote’s  “death spiral,” there happened to be some sage advice. If you use any type of online or cloud based service to store your personal or business information, you should have a local backup of your data and have an exit strategy in place before the unexpected happens.

As we rely more and more on online and cloud based services, it’s important to think about how you would conduct your business if internet service was unavailable for an extended period or if your online/cloud service provider shut down. While these may seem like far fetched possibilities, many services have already been interrupted (albeit for a short length of time) in the recent past. To counteract the recent bad press, Evernote has slashed its’ premium membership rates.
